In conversation with Palestinian doctor Ghassan Abu-Sittah

Witness statement of a doctor in Gaza

Watch the entire event in the video below:

Update 16 May: Continued attempts to silence and cancel doctor Ghassan Abu-Sittah have made it impossible from him to be with us tomorrow. If the situation allows, he will join us over a video link.

The travel ban was only one of the ways in which he is being obstructed and prevented to give his indispensable statement on what he witnessed in Gaza. We are saddened and angry about the situation, but remain committed in our resolve to give a platform to Palestinians and their allies in their fight for justice.

We will not be silenced. Thank you for standing with us.

The Rights Forum board member Berber van der Woude will host a talk with the Palestinian-British doctor Ghassan Abu-Sittah about his time as a surgeon in Gaza and the genocidal war that Israel is waging there. He witnessed the most horrific injuries to children and treated people with terrible burns. Abu-Sittah says Gaza is being deliberately made unliveable by also destroying the health system.

After the conversation with Abu-Sittah, there will be a panel where we discuss the situation in Gaza and the attack on the freedom of expression in Europe. The Rights Forum also offers a platform to speakers whose freedom of expression and Palestinian solidarity in Europe are under pressure.

Friday May 17, 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Pakhuis de Zwijger, Amsterdam
Admission: € 12.50 | Language: English

Moderator: Berber van der Woude

He will provide us with facts and figures on the suppression of Palestine solidarity activists in Europe.
